Webinar offers help for elders' caregivers

Sign up for Weekend to-do list
Caregivers for older adults are often thrust in the role with no warning, no training and no support. A nonprofit organization, the National Private Duty Association, is offering a free web conference on March 13 to bridge the information gap and offer resources for caregivers.

The live interactive program, "Depression and Older Adults: What Every Caregiver Should Know,'' will cover how families can work with professionals to identify this problem and develop a care plan; it will also offer resources and help cargivers to locate experts.

Other topics include diagnosis of depression; association between depression, anxiety and memory loss; safe and effective medications; and tools for monitoring treatment and improvement.

Dr. Steven C. Fox, medical director of Wellspring Personal Care and founder of Chicago's Wellspring Gerontological Services, is to present the webinar.

Fox's clinical practice, teaching and research has been on the care and treatment for the elderly and disabled for 30 years.

Registration is required for the online webinar, which takes place from 5 to 6 p.m. March 13, Go to the registration link at www.privatedutyhomecare.org.
