Grant and Kirk take Player of the Month honors

The National Lacrosse League announced its NLL Players of the Month on March 1 and Colorado's John Grant Jr. took home Player of the Month for the second straight month.

Grant scored 11 goals and had 11 assists in February helping the Mammoth to a 2-1 record for the month.

Grant is the NLL leader with 27 goals and 59 points and is on pace to break the single-season record for points of 115 set by John Tavares in 2001.

Minnesota's Evan Kirk was named the Rookie of the Month for February.

Kirk, the sixth overall pick in the 2011 entry draft won his first two starts, beating Rochester on Feb. 12 and Washington on Feb. 24. Kirk set Swarm records for lowest goals-against average (6.50) and highest save percentage (.873) by a rookie in his first two starts.

The monthly awards are selected by a vote of the league's general managers and head coaches.
