A casket carrying Jayme Biendl is carried through Comcast Arena during the memorial service for her on Feb. 8, 2011. Biendl was among 11 official homicide victims in Snohomish County in 2011.

Snohomish County documented 11 homicides in 2011, according to data from the Medical Examiner's Office.

Here are a few themes from the data, according to law enforcement reports:

4 were drug-related
3 were domestic-violence-related
2 were officer-involved shootings
1 was a line-of-duty death: the slaying of Monroe corrections officer Jayme Biendl

8 of the dead were men, 3 were women

3 were in their 20s
4 were in their 30s
3 were in their 40s
1 was in her 60s

Of the 11, 8 died from gunshot wounds. The others were stabbed or strangled.

Six of the homicides were in Everett. Of those, five were in city limits.

Here are their names, ages, day of death, and a link to a story about their life or the status of the investigation and prosecution.

Jayme L. Biendl, 34, 1-29-2011, "A year after Jayme Biendl's death, her family sees reminders of her everywhere."

Justin U. Gaswint, 32, 7-16-2011, "Family of man shot by deputy holds vigil on I-5 overpass."
Dylan T. Jones, 23, 7-19-2011, "Prosecutors won't charge Everett man after fatal struggle with theft suspect."

Steven G. Johnson, 48, 10-19-2011, "One of two shooting victims in Lynnwood was an Oregon man."
Quinton R. Blatchford, 42, 12-29-2011, "Gun fears expressed before fatal Everett shooting."

Keep in mind, death investigations aren't neatly contained to the calendar year. There are pending or undetermined cases that can later be named homicides.

This list also doesn't include the death of David "Red" Pedersen, who police believe was killed in Everett, but whose body was recovered in Oregon. It also doesn't include vehicular homicide cases, because those are classified separately.
