Arlington: Genealogy society plans events
Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society has scheduled an open house Saturday at its new location. The open house is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 215 N. French Ave. Refreshments are to be served. The society's library, extensive local collection of materials and Civil War collection will be open for viewing.
Stillaguamish Valley Pioneer Museum and the Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society have scheduled a free presentation by Jerry Magelssen, who photographs barns in north Snohomish County and Camano Island. Magelssen plans to talk from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the museum hall, 20722 67th Ave. NE in Arlington.

Darrington: Bake sale begins today
Cascade Senior Center's spring bake sale is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Saturday at 1115 Darrington St.
Proceeds support programs at the senior center.
Lake Stevens: Crews to check smoke alarms
Lake Stevens firefighters plan to visit local grocery stores today to remind people to check their smoke alarm batteries.
Daylight saving time starts Sunday, and it's a good time for people to check their smoke alarms, said Alison Caton, a public educator with Snohomish County Fire District 8 in Lake Stevens.
Firefighters plan to be at Jay's Market downtown and at Haggen along Market Place NE from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Their visits may be interrupted by emergency calls.
Mukilteo: Kiwanis Club to host breakfast
The Mukilteo Kiwanis Club hosts its seventh annual pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Olympic View Middle School, 2602 Mukilteo Speedway.
The fundraiser includes 50 raffle prizes.
Tickets are $7 at the door.
Silvana: Fair board auction is Saturday
The annual Silvana Fair Board Auction is Saturday at Viking Hall on Pioneer Highway in Silvana.
Doors and snack bar open at 5 p.m. Silent auction begins at 5:30. Live auction is at 6 p.m. Hundreds of items will be available during the auctions, with proceeds going to support the Silvana Fair.
This year's one-day fair is scheduled for July 28 in Silvana. The fair includes youths showing their animals, arts and crafts exhibits, demonstrations and fun for families. Admission is free. Funds raised during the auction are used to cover the cost of running the fair.
Auctioneers George Magnochi and Dave Fenton plan to keep auction night lively as they take bids on a huge range of items. The evening is set to end with a drawing for a $250 door prize.

Stanwood: School PTA auction Saturday
Stanwood Elementary's eighth annual PTA "Welcome to the Jungle" dinner and auction is set for 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the school's gymnasium, 10227 273rd Place NW.
Tickets are $10 at the door for a meal, entertainment and the opportunity to bid on a wide variety of items. Free childcare is planned. The event raises money for student programs.
