WENATCHEE -- A Chelan County jury has convicted a 40-year-old man of first-degree murder for stabbing the mother of his children to death.
Sebastian Cortes Aguilar also was found guilty Friday of second-degree assault for slashing his 13-year-old daughter's arm as she tried to defend her mother from his attack.
The Wenatchee World said Cortes wept when his children earlier testified against him. Ortencia Alejandre died in her basement apartment with multiple stab wounds last August.
Cortes faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. His sentencing was set for March 27.
