Weigh in on future of Kimberly-Clark mill site

City leaders are concerned about what's going to happen to the Kimberly-Clark mill site after the company levels the buildings and sells the site. The City Council passed an emergency moratorium on any development Feb. 15 in order to prevent any undesirable land uses, although city leaders aren't sharing just what it is they heard that prompted that move.

Now, the council is planning a public hearing on the moratorium at 12:30 p.m. March 28 at City Council chambers, 3002 Wetmore Ave. The purpose is to take testimony on the moratorium the council already approved. City staff also plan to present a work plan on the process for planning what they are calling "the Central Waterfront Planning Area." The area includes the 69 acres owned by Kimberly Clark as well as some surrounding properties.
