Prep baseball: Edmonds-Woodway 6, Meadowdale 4
"It looked like a first game, both teams really kind of split their starters," said Meadowdale head coach Bill Hummell. "Ryan Budnick looked pretty good on the mound, throwing pitches for strikes, he is clearly going to be their number one guy."
As for his own No. 1, Hummell said Torin Dooley gave up a few runs and went a little over pitch count -- typical for a first start -- but overall did a nice job.
The deciding run came in the top of the eigth on a double by Edmonds-Woodway's Alex Hull. Troy Rheinford had a leadoff walk, then reached second on a passed ball. Max Bennett bunted Rheinford to third and Hull's double scored Rheinford. The Warriors added an insurance run later in the inning on a bases loaded walk.
"What Edmonds-Woodway did well, they answered," Hummell said. "Every time we scored they were able to tack one on."
