GREENSBORO, N.C. — Creighton coach Greg McDermott says a bus driver transporting the Bluejays to the Greensboro Coliseum on Sunday had an apparent heart attack on the way to the game.
Bill Burrus, a bus driver out of Nashville, Tenn., came in to work the tournament. He had no affiliation with the team.
He pulled the bus over safely and received medical attention. A new bus driver was brought in. It caused the Bluejays to be a little later than expected, but CBS had moved the game back 15 minutes before the incident.
McDermott called it “a scary deal” and says “his health and how his family’s doing is certainly more important than who wins or loses a basketball game.”
Burrus’ status is unknown.
