Salmon will be strutting their stuff during a "salmon fashion show" at an Adopt A Stream program on Thursday.
"Sammy the Salmon" is the star of the show and he will be joined by members of the audience wearing some stylish salmon attire, including an egg costume and a baby salmon outfit.
This fashion show is the kickoff event for a six-part stream ecology training program where members of the public can become guardians of the environment and protectors of salmon habitat.
"After the audience is 'hooked' with the salmon fashion show, we are going to 'reel them in' by teaching the crowd to become Stream Private Investigators," Adopt A Stream Foundation director Tom Murdoch said.
"Sammy the Salmon" is going to introduce the audience to the life cycle of salmon. Then Murdoch is going to take the audience through the five steps of adopting a stream, including how to establish watershed allies and how to become a streamkeeper.
The program concludes with some visual examples of stream protection and restoration projects done by others who have adopted their streams.
Those who complete all six sessions of the eco-training program will earn a Stream Ecology Certificate.
The kickoff session is at 7 p.m. Thursday at Third Place Commons in Lake Forest Park's Town Center, 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park. The event is free.
