HAGATNA, Guam — A U.S. Navy sailor on Guam has been charged with rape, molestation and child abuse.
Petty Officer 1st Class Bradford Laurence Lung, 30, admitted molesting a young girl several times a week since August 2010 and forcing her to engage in sexual activity with him, the Pacific Daily News reported.
The alleged victim is now 10 years old and said Lung has been touching her sexually for years, according to Superior Court of Guam documents.
Lung, originally from Yreka, Calif., joined the Navy in 2001 and has been stationed on Guam since March 2009, said Annette Donner, a spokeswoman at U.S. Naval Base Guam. She said he does not live on the base.
Carlina Charfauros, a spokeswoman for Guam’s attorney general, said Lung is being held on $75,000 cash bail.
A woman reached by phone at Lung’s home Saturday declined to comment. “I can’t talk about anything,” she said, declining to identify herself.
The allegations were reported to police by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which was investigating Lung.
“The U.S. Navy takes all claims of sexual abuse seriously and will cooperate fully with the Guam attorney general,” Donner said. “Sexual assault is a crime and is incompatible with our ethos and core values. If a service member has committed a crime, the Navy will support the lawful disciplinary action taken.”
Lung was booked and arrested Thursday and appeared in court Friday, Donner said. He is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, second-degree criminal sexual conduct and child abuse, all felonies.
