LAKE STEVENS — A couple escaped their home before it was destroyed by flames early Saturday morning, Lake Stevens firefighters said.
The 1 a.m. blaze in the southwest part of the city was one of three that kept Lake Stevens fire crews busy that morning. All of the fires appeared accidental, though their exact origins remained under investigation, fire Capt. Ryan Lowe said. Nobody was injured.
The first, and most damaging, blaze occurred on the 9000 block of 17th Street SE. Crews arrived to find the house fully involved. The resulting damage left it a total loss, Lowe said.
The second fire was reported on the 2500 block of Newberg Road at 3:51 a.m. It destroyed what was believed to be an unoccupied travel trailer, Lowe said.
Shortly before 8 a.m., fire crews rushed to a chimney fire on the 800 block of 98th Avenue SE, Lowe said. They put out the flames within minutes, limiting damage to one room and the attic.
