Pasco considers armed rangers for gang-infested parks

PASCO -- The city of Pasco is considering hiring rangers to help make two parks with a reputation for gang activity more family friendly.
KVEW reports the rangers stationed at Memorial Park and Chiawana Park would be fully commissioned by the state, which means they could carry guns and arrest people.
Pasco City Manager Gary Crutchfield says they'd be visible in uniforms, walking or riding a bike around the park, creating a stronger sense of safety.
The rangers could be hired with money from a criminal justice sales tax that was approved in November.
