MILL CREEK -- Republican Mark Harmsworth, a councilman for the city of Mill Creek, has begun a campaign to unseat incumbent state Rep. Hans Dunshee, D-Snohomish.
Harmsworth, who is in his second term on the City Council, formally announced his candidacy last week.
"Our state is facing some of the toughest challenges in its history. Every day we hear stories of friends and neighbors struggling to make ends meet," Harmsworth said in a press release. "We can't delay tough choices any longer. Borrowing money and using accounting gimmicks to balance our budget won't work."
Harmsworth is married and the father of three children. He works as a principal service engineer for Microsoft Corp.
Dunshee, who is chairman of the House Capital Budget Committee, is in his 18th year in the state Legislature. Though he's not formally announced his re-election plans, he does have a campaign committee.
