Bellevue completes NY lacrosse sweep with win at Farmingdale

FARMINGDALE, NY -- Cole Johnson scored five goals as Bellevue concluded its three-game New York road swing with a 12 - 5 boys high school lacrosse win over Farmingdale High School on Long Island. The victory gave the Wolverines their 10th win of the season and a three-game sweep of New York high schools.

Bellevue got off to a hot start with a 5 - 2 lead in the first. In the second, both teams netted two goals with the Wolverines holding a 7 - 4 advantage at the half. But it was three unanswered goals in the third that game Bellevue a commanding 10 - 4 lead that would ultimately lock in the Wolverine victory going into the final stanza. In the fourth, Bellevue added two goals to close out the scoring.

Johnson, a junior attackman also had an assists in the win, while sophomore Hank Bethke and senior Blake Samuel each had a pair of goals. Goaltender Austin Boyd had 11 saves to keep Farmingdale at bay.

On Thursday, Bellevue edged Long Beach (NY) 10 - 9 and downed Oceanside (NY) 8 - 4 on Tuesday.

Girgus nets six as Snohomish lax drops Everett for fifth straight

LAKE STEVENS -- Gabe Girgus scored a season-high six goals to lead Snohomish to its fifth win in a row with a 16 - 11 boys high school lacrosse defeat of Everett, Friday at Lake Stevens High School.

The win was the eighth of the season for Snohomish, giving the Panthers a full two game lead over Everett in the Division II Cascade Conference.

After matching each other with three goals in the first, Snohomish netted seven in the second to take a 10 - 5 lead into the intermission. The Panthers added three more in the third to make it 13 - 6 goring into the final quarter. In the fourth, Everett made a run with five goals, but was unable to overcome an the early lead and three fourth-quarter scores by Snohomish.

Harrison Wartes had three goals, 2 assists and eight ground balls and Brandon Todd had 10 ground balls for Snohomish. Everett's Jared Hawkin had four goals and Merrick Rutledge had nine saves for Everett.

Snohomish (8-1-0) next faces North County (2-3-0), Tuesday, April 17 in a 5 p.m. start at Bender Fields. Everett (6-3-0) next faces Stanwood (3-4-0), Tuesday, April 17 in a 6 p.m. start at Stanwood Middle School.

Mora nets five as Ballard drops Mukilteo in girls lax

SEATTLE -- Sophie Mora scored five goals and delivered four assists as Ballard evened its record at 4 - 4 with a 16 - 10 girls high school lacrosse win over Mukilteo, Friday at Ballard High School.

The win brought the Beavers within a point of Mercer Island on top of the Girls Alki Conference.

The give goals gave the junior midfielder 36 on the season.

Ballard jumped to a 10 - 4 lead in the first half, then was matched by a resurgent Mukilteo with six goals in the second.

Ballard (4-4-0) next faces Seattle Prep (2-3-0), Tuesday, April 24 in a 3:45 p.m. start at Magnuson Park in Seattle. Mukilteo (1-5-0) next faces Snohomish (5-2-0), Tuesday, Apri17 in a 7:30 p.m. stat at Glacier Peak High School.

Mackin's seven goals lead Bainbridge girls past Snohomish

SNOHOMISH -- Kelsey Mackin matched a season's-best seven goals to lead Bainbridge to a 19 - 6 girls high school lacrosse win over Snohomish, Friday at Glacier Peak High School in Snohomish. The win was the fifth straight for the Spartans, which started the season with a loss and a tie.

Olivia Smith had six goals and Madeline Stevenson had four saves in the win. Snohomish was led by Stephanie Lamphere with two goals.

Bainbridge (5-1-1) next faces Bellarmine Prep (0-6-1), Wednesday, April 18 in a 7:45 p.m. start at Bainbridge Stadium. Snohomish (5-2-0) next faces Mukilteo (1-5-0), Tuesday, April 17 in a 7:30 p.m. stat at Glacier Peak High School.
