"(Archbishop Murphy) has good players, they're well-organized and a well-coached team," said Cedarcrest head coach Zack Pittis. "(Scoring a goal) is something to hang our hat on, a small victory within the bigger game."
All three goals in the game were tallied within the first 21 minutes. The Wildcats struck first, with Riley Rayner scoring as a result of a short corner in the 2nd minute.
"It was a really nice goal, we just weren't ready to play," admitted Pittis.
The Wolves' slumber continued as 12 minutes later Alex Kramer headed home a Christian Thode corner for a 2-0 lead.
Cedarcrest finally responded in the 20th minute. Freshman Kyle Walsh fed Chris Cole with a through ball and the sophomore blasted a low shot to the back post, beating Archbishop Murphy goalkeeper Jordan Trinka.
The Wolves pressed in the final 10 minutes, looking for the tying goal, but Trinka would come up big, tipping a free kick over the crossbar to preserve the win and give the Wildcats a nine point lead in the standings.
