The pursuit began in southeast Marysville shortly after midnight, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.
Around 11:30 p.m., neighbors called 911 to report two suspects prowling around cars and jumping over fences.
Police found an unoccupied Jeep Cherokee believed to have been driven by the suspects, Lamoureux said.
An officer felt the vehicle's hood and found that it was still warm.
Police then watched and waited.
When one of the men returned to the Jeep, police tried to stop him, Lamoureux said.
He raced off in the Jeep, heading southeast.
The pursuit ended about three minutes later east of Highway 9 in Lake Stevens.
The Jeep struck a power pole and the driver, 25, was ejected.
The vehicle went over the top of him and rolled through a wooded area in front of a home, Lamoureux said.
The man became wrapped up in chain link fence but medics couldn't help him right away.
There were live wires to contend with first.
"He was pinned, so he couldn't move," Lamoureux said.
A Snohomish County Public Utility District crew was called to turn off the power.
Rescuers remained in contact with the man who was conscious during the time it took to reach him.
He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
He's under investigation for theft and attempting to elude police.
Detectives from the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office are investigating the crash, which occurred in Lake Stevens city limits.
