Fight over pastry ends in Idaho woman's arrest

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -- Police say an argument between an eastern Idaho woman and her boyfriend over who ate the last of their pastries ended in violence.
Officers arrested Shellie Coughlan, 45, of Idaho Falls on Wednesday, saying she threw a steak knife at her live-in boyfriend, John Rice, 46. Coughlan was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on suspicion of aggravated battery.
Police said the argument between the two started because Rice was upset after Coughlan's teenage son ate the last of their Danish. When officers responded to the reported disturbance, Coughlan said Rice had threatened her with a gun.
But police say they determined it was Coughlan who had a weapon.
A court appearance has been scheduled for May 2.
