50 years ago (1962)
Six more of the “Bristol Bay” wooden gillnetters, manufactured by Morris Brothers in Everett, were headed out to Bryant Boat Works in Seattle. The Everett-built craft were popular in the fishing trade.
Star Lighting and Electric of Snohomish was planning to open a branch shop at 2610 Colby Ave., Everett, before the end of the month, according to owner Milt Perman. The store, formerly occupied by Gaston Realty, was being remodeled to handle the firm’s display of electrical and heating fixtures.
25 years ago (1987)
Bob Burnham was in charge of production of Milton Freewater Seltzer at the Pepsi-Cola bottling plant near Paine Field. Everett water was being used in the new sparkling seltzer to be sold in Oregon.
Five hundred quartets invaded Everett for the largest barbershop singing competition ever held in Snohomish County. The event at the Everett Pacific Hotel was being organized by the county chapters of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quarter Sing in America Inc. Participants came from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, British Columbia and Alberta.
