ARLINGTON -- Snohomish used a four-run rally in the sixth inning to hand Arlington their first league loss -- and only second loss of the season -- on their way to a 7-2 victory in a Wesco North game on Monday.
Arlington, had been ranked second in state going into Monday's match up but the Panthers hitters were able to scatter nine hits against Eagles' starter Ronnie Ladines, despite the fact that Ladines struck out 12 on the afternoon.
"Snohomish really played an 'A' game today," said Arlington coach Lonnie Hicks. "Everything they did today was amazing."
For Arlington the seven runs allowed matched a season high.
"Ronnie got hit harder today then she has all season," added Hicks. "They hit everything she threw up there."
The Panthers hitters were paced by sophomore Katlyn Purvis who batted 2-for-3 on the afternoon with two doubles and catcher Morgan Greenlee who went 2-for-4 with a triple.
Arlington seemingly couldn't get anything going on the day, and Hicks was sure to site a number of factors in the Eagles first league loss.
"We made more errors than we had all season. We didn't hit the ball today at all, and whenever the ball was hit by us, we hit it directly at somebody."
Lynsey Amundson led the Arlington hitters, hitting three of the team's seven hits on the afternoon, including a double.
With the win, Snohomish improves to 8-3 and puts itself into a tie for second place with Marysville-Pilchuck in the Wesco North standings with four games remaining. The Eagles, who has already clinched a spot in districts remains in first place in league despite the loss.
