The Boeing Co. and Lufthansa of Germany celebrated the delivery of the first 747-8 Intercontinental plane that will carry passengers on commercial flights. Boeing and the airline signed the delivery paperwork last week but marked the occasion on Tuesday at the Future of Flight Aviation Center at Paine Field.

Lufthansa was to fly the jumbo jet to Frankfurt, Germany, where another celebration was planned. Boeing previously delivered a 747-8 passenger plane in February to an undisclosed VIP customer. Boeing has 36 orders for the 747-8 passenger configuration since it was first offered in 2005.
