Home invasion robberies are rare in Mukilteo. That's why it was surprising news that a break-in ended in gunfire in this secluded neighborhood Monday night, Mukilteo police officer Cheol Kang said.
Four men were arrested for investigation of robbery. They're accused of forcing their way in and firing a weapon inside the home and when they drove away.
The robbery occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the 9800 block of Marine View Drive, Kang said.
Three people pushed their way inside when the homeowner, 44, answered the door, Kang said.
Police on Tuesday still were investigating the motive for the robbery.
They were seeking a search warrant for a car used to drive away from the scene.
Police expected to release more information on Wednesday.
The victim's daughters and several of their friends showed up during the robbery. Witnesses told police they heard the sound of a gunshot inside the home.
The three men left in a car driven by a fourth suspect, Kang said.
A gunshot was fired from the car, a dark Saturn, as it left the scene.
The vehicle was spotted by officers near Harbour Pointe Boulevard and the Mukilteo Speedway.
The car struck two vehicles waiting at the intersection and kept going.
It stopped near the 10500 block of the Mukilteo Speedway where all four suspects ran from the vehicle into the nearby woods.
Officers and a police dog from Lynnwood, Edmonds and the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office helped Mukilteo police track down the suspects.
The victim suffered facial lacerations from being struck with a pistol during the robbery. He received medical treatment at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett and was released.
No one else was injured.
The suspects, ages 24, 23, 19, and 18, are from Kent. They were booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of robbery, assault and drive-by shooting.
