The Seattle Mariners placed catcher Miguel Olivo on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.

Olivo suffered a strained right groin in the Mariners' 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night. Olivo, who homered in Monday's game, was hitting .210 with two doubles, four homers and seven RBI.

Seattle also announced it has recalled outfielder Mike Carp from his rehabilitation assignment with Class AAA Tacoma. Carp has been on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right shoulder since March 29.

In 13 games with the Rainiers, Carp hit .137 with two doubles and four RBI.
