EVERETT — The guns were drawn in front of a toy store but these folks weren’t playing around.
The confrontation occurred Monday evening in a south Everett parking lot in the 1300 block of Everett Mall Way.
Police allege that a man pointed a gun with the plan of stealing marijuana from a couple.
A woman, one of the victims, said she had no choice but to pull a handgun from her bra and fire it into the ground.
When it was over, a Seattle man, 19, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of robbery.
Police, meanwhile, were left to sort through a story of a pot deal gone awry.
The woman told an Everett police officer that she had gone to the toy store parking lot to “donate” some of her medical marijuana stash in exchange for a “donation” of money, according to court records.
She said she asked to see the man’s medical marijuana card.
He told her that his girlfriend had it in a car and left to go get it, but not before she showed him the pot.
She was sitting with her boyfriend in their truck when the man returned.
Her boyfriend got out first. When she circled around, she saw the suspect pointing a gun at her boyfriend, according to court records.
That’s when she pulled her gun out of her bra and fired the shot into the ground, she said.
The suspect ran away and she later identified him for police.
An officer located a gun magazine in the area but the firearm wasn’t found.
The suspect has a previous robbery conviction, according to court records.
“Whatever the transaction was, when it borders on the illegal, there is obviously the potential for something to go wrong,” Everett police Lt. Robert Goetz said.
