John McDonnell, former chief of McDonnell Douglas, has retired from the Boeing Co. board of directors.
McDonnell stepped down during Boeing’s annual meeting this week in Chicago, reports The Wall Street Journal.
Boeing has decreased the number of directors on its board to 11 from 12 following McDonnell’s departure, according to a filing submitted Thursday to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, so he will not be replaced.
McDonnell is the son of James McDonnell, founder of McDonnell Aircraft, which merged with Douglas Aircraft in 1967 to form McDonnell Douglas. Boeing and McDonnell Douglas merged in 1997. John McDonnell had been a director of Boeing’s board since the merger.
