That's no joke.
The Everett native and professional stand-up comedian is launching a monthly showcase for funny people.
"A city of 100,000 people shouldn't be without a premier stand-up comedy show," he said.
That's why he's introducing Everett Comedy Night. Each month, Michaelis said, he'll host some of the best local and touring comedians, the kind of people you're likely to see on late-night talk shows.
To kick things off, Gabriel Rutledge, winner of the Seattle Comedy Competition, will headline the event on May 6.
Rutledge has been on Comedy Central, Bob and Tom Radio, and the Las Vegas and Great American Comedy festivals.
Other special guests on the opening night include Seattle Comedy Competition semi-finalist Xung Lam and Everett native Michelle Westford.
After the first show, Everett Comedy Night will continue every second Sunday of the month.
The first show is scheduled for 8 p.m. Sunday at Chopstix Dueling Piano Bar, 2820 Oakes Ave., Everett.
Tickets cost $5 at everettcomedynight.ticketleap.com/everett-comedy-night.
