Olympia homeowner sued over shooting

OLYMPIA -- A man who climbed a fence at an Olympia home is suing the homeowner who shot him as a suspected prowler.

No charges were filed in the April 2010 shooting because the homeowner said he was guarding his property.

The Olympian reported that the wounded man, Michael McMahon, had been staying at a neighbor's home and was intoxicated when he climbed into Daniel Lipp's yard about 2 in the morning.

The lawsuit filed last week seeks money for McMahon's medical expenses and other losses as a result of the shooting.

Lipp declined to comment on the lawsuit.
