What to do this weekend

Shop for your garden: This weekend is packed full of plant sales around the area. Take a look at our list to find one near you.

Cinco de Mayo: A celebration is planned at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Everett High School. The event features music, art, dancing and crafts. For more information, call 425-355-6005. Also, celebrations of Cinco de Mayo aren’t complete with a good dose of delicious food and drink. Click here or here for some ideas.

Elementary: Sherlock season 2 begins on Sunday. You’ll find it at 9 p.m. on PBS.

Happy Birthday: The Schack Art Center in Everett is celebrating its first year at a birthday bash from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. A wide range of demonstrations are planned, as well as games, a raffle, hands-on activities and more. Read more about the event here and read more about Schack’s successful first year here.

Go fishing: A kids fishing derby is planned on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Kiwanis Pond, Jennings Park, 6915 Armar Rd, Marysville. Kids can bring their own equipment or borrow some. A breakfast is also available, $3 for kids, $5 for adults. Participants are asked to bring a canned food item to be donated to the Marysville Food Bank.

Look up: Saturday night, expect a big, bright full moon. According to NASA “May’s full moon is a ‘super moon,’ as much as 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than other full moons of 2012.” Find more details here.

Laugh: Cory Michaelis, a Cascade High School teacher and stand-up comedian, says Everett needs to laugh more. So, he’s introducing Everett Comedy Night. The event kicks off on Sunday night with Gabriel Rutledge, winner of the Seattle Comedy Competition. Find the details in our story here.

Magic: Two magic shows are this weekend in Arlington, one on Sunday and one on Saturday. The one on Saturday is best for adults and older kids. Find the details in our story here.
