Boys prep lacrosse state tournament begins Friday

SEATTLE – The road to the Washington Lacrosse State Championships gets underway for high school boys on Friday and Saturday with the opening round of Division II postseason playoffs. Boys Division I postseason action gets underway May 15 and 16.


Boys Division II playoff teams are selected based on league record. The top three teams in the Olympic, Cascade and Metro–North and Metro–South Conferences and the top two teams in the Evergreen and Skagit Conferences earn post-season berths.

Opening round competition takes place on Friday and Saturday with winners facing off in quarterfinal action on May 18. Semifinals take place on May 23 with the state championship contested on May 26.

On Friday, Nathan Hale (1st, Metro–North) and Providence (3rd, Cascade) play in a 5:45 p.m. start at Summit Fields No. 2 in Seattle. Snohomish (1st, Cascade) plays Roosevelt (2nd, Metro–North) in a 7 p.m. start at Lake Stevens H.S. Seattle Prep (1st, Metro–South) takes on North Kitsap (3rd, Olympic) in a 7:15 p.m. start at Lower Woodland No. 7 in Seattle. Everett (2nd, Cascade) plays Whatcom (1st, Skagit) at Walter Hall Park in Everett. The time for the Everett, Whatcom game has not yet been determined.

On Saturday, San Juan (2nd, Skagit) and Klahowya (2nd, Olympic) square-off in a noon start at Friday Harbor H.S. in Friday Harbor, while Overlake (1st, Evergreen) takes on Ballard (3rd, Metro–North) in a 1 p.m. start at the Overlake School in Redmond. Gig Harbor (1st, Olympic) plays Garfield (3rd, Metro–South) in a 7 p.m. start at Peninsula H.S. in Gig Harbor and Mt. Si (2nd, Evergreen) takes on Three Rivers (2nd, Metro–South) in a 7 p.m. start at Mt. Si H.S.
