The winners of the 2012 Washington State Junior Bass Championship were Trevor Huff of Camano Island (left) and Dakota Jones of Mead.

Lake Washington was the site of the April 28 state Junior Bass Championships, crowning winners in the 15-18 year old and 11-14 year old brackets.

The two winners -- Dakota Jones of Mead, and Trevor Huff of Camano Island, respectively -- will represent the Washington State Bass Federation and the Washington National Guard at this year's National Guard Junior World Championship on Aug. 9-12 in Gainesville, Ga.

Jones, representing the Inland Empire Junior Bass Club, weighed four fish for 8.85 pounds, just shading three-time state champ Nik Autrey, with 8.05 pounds. Autrey worked a lipless crank bait late in the day but fell just short of another title.

Huff, representing the Washington Bass Association Junior Club, nailed a single good smallmouth, at 4.82 pounds, to take both his division and big-fish honors for the tournament.
