MARYSVILLE -- Marysville police arrested a woman Saturday after a two-hour standoff.

The incident began to unfold around 1:30 p.m. in the 6900 block of 47th Avenue. Police received reports that a woman, 26, had pointed an assault rifle at her ex-boyfriend, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said. The man's 3-year-old son was in the apartment at the time of the assault.

The man, 21, was able to leave with his child. The woman refused police commands to come outside.

Officers converged on the area, blocked off roads and advised neighbors to remain inside while they attempted to communicate with the woman.

She eventually surrendered and was arrested for investigation of domestic violence assault. Police on Saturday evening were working to obtain a warrant to search the apartment to retrieve the gun. The woman reportedly told police she'd hid the rifle under a bed.
