SNOHOMISH — A pastor and a humanist are set to debate the existence of God.
The public event “Does God Exist: Where do the Facts of Science, History and Human Experience Point?” is set to feature the Rev. Gary Jensen, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Snohomish, debating Jim Corbett, a member of the Humanists of North Puget Sound.
The debate is schedule from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Snohomish Performing Arts Center, 1316 Fifth Street.
Tickets cost $1 for students and $3 for adults. Proceeds go to pay costs of hosting the event.
The moderator for the debate will be Jeffrey Mallinson, the academic dean and professor of philosophy and theology at Trinity Lutheran College in Everett.
The Humanists of North Puget Sound is a nonprofit that advocates the separation of church and state, the importance of a secular democracy, human rights, environmental sustainability and peaceful solutions to global problems. Their website is www.humanistsnps.org.
