Everett firefighters rescue hang glider caught in tree

EVERETT -- Everett firefighters on Sunday rescued a man whose hang glider became entangled in a tree near Howarth Park.
Just before 5 p.m., crews found the man about 40 feet up a tree on a steep embankment between the park and railroad tracks along the water, Everett Fire Acting Battalion Chief Ric Cade said.
Firefighters used ropes to rappel down the embankment to the base of a tree while another crew brought a ladder up the slope. Rescuers provided a safety harness to the man before he climbed down the ladder. He was stranded for about 90 minutes.
The man was not hurt, Cade said.
He reportedly told authorities that he'd misjudged the wind. The glider was still tangled in the tree after firefighters left the scene.
