Monroe council to discuss wakeboarding park Tuesday
The Sammamish-based company H3O Development is scheduled to make a new presentation to the council about using Lake Tye as the site for the facility. The council meeting is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the council chambers, 806 W. Main St.
The 30-minute presentation is meant to answer questions the council had at past meetings.
H3O is to give the final layout of the park, how it would impact parking in the area, and projected attendance among other things, Monroe's economic development manager Jeff Sax said.
"Some of the unknowns have been answered," Sax said about the presentation.
The council is expected to discuss the leasing agreement at its June 5 meeting. when the council could vote on it, Sax said.
H3O wants to build six lattice towers connected by cables on the south end of Lake Tye, located at 14964 Fryelands Blvd. The cables would pull wakeboarders around the lake without the need of a boat.
H3O managers have said the wakeboarding park would attract visitors to the lake and bring revenue to the city. Meanwhile, neighbors argue the park would disrupt the public park's amenities.
