Here's the press releases:
Ben Scheffler hired as Shorewood Boys Basketball Coach
Shorewood High School and the Shoreline School District are pleased to announce Ben Scheffler as the new varsity boy’s basketball coach. Scheffler replaces Marv Morris who retired in February. While at Shorewood for four years, Morris was able to restore the basketball program to a competitive level in WESCO. Morris retires, achieving 300 wins in his career.
This will be Scheffler’s first high school head coaching position, but he comes to the Thunderbirds with an experienced coaching resume. His coaching experience includes head coaching with top level local AAU programs and assistant coaching experience at three college programs, including Seattle Pacific University. Scheffler also had a successful collegiate playing career at Seattle Pacific, and played prep ball at Roosevelt High School.
We are excited to have someone with Ben’s credentials and passion for coaching. He is a man of character and is well respected in the Shoreline and Washington State basketball community. We feel he is a great fit for the T-Bird program and we look forward to working with Ben to provide a great experience for the student-athletes at Shorewood.
If media would like to contact Mr. Scheffler, he can be reached at 206 683 0253.
Fransen hired as King's volleyball coach
Shoreline, WA (May 17, 2012): King’s High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Fransen to the position of Head Volleyball Coach. Joining King’s, Fransen inherits one of the state’s most successful high school volleyball programs. King’s holds State Championship titles for 2008 and 2009, with a second place finish in 2010, and a third place finish in 2011.
Coach Fransen is well-known in King’s athletics and the King’s community, as both of his children are students at King’s and his daughter played a prominent role for the Knights Volleyball team for four years. Fransen comes with years of experience coaching numerous select teams and through involvement with King’s feeder teams, has developed many of our top players from a young age.
Prior to coming to King’s, Coach Fransen served as an assistant volleyball coach for Washington State University and went on to build a volleyball program at Northshore Christian Academy. Most recently, Fransen has served as the Technical Director for the Washington Volleyball Academy.
According to Jeff Geers, King’s High School Assistant Principal, “Coach Fransen is the perfect fit for our Athletic community as he has been embracing our Core Coaching Covenants for years, shares our faith heritage and has extensive first-hand experience as a volleyball player and coach.”
Of Fransen, former King’s Volleyball Coach Steve Bain—who left King’s a month ago to coach collegiately at Northwest University—says, “Fransen is an excellent pick to lead the King’s Volleyball program, they are in good hands.”
