MONROE -- The Monroe School District has received a court date to dispute the termination of a lease with a Sammamish-based real estate company.
The school district and Fryelands Sixth Avenue Associates LLC are scheduled to have their dispute before a King County Superior Court judge in June 2013.
The school district is asking a judge to rule that it has the right to terminate the lease. Fryelands Sixth Avenue Associates argues the district has no right to do so.
The Monroe School District moved the Sky Valley Education Center from the private building at 17072 Tye St. SE to the former Monroe Middle School.
The district sent notices in February and July 2011 that it would be ending its lease on the building. The district continued paying its rent until the school programs moved, spokeswoman Rosemary O'Neil said. The lease agreement expired this year.
