Go fishing: The Sultan Sportsmen's Club is organizing a Fishing Derby for kids between the ages of 1 and 14. The derby is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Ed Boucher's ponds by E. Wisteria Lane just two blocks north of Sultan High School. Participants must be with an adult. There will be prizes for the biggest fish and for the most fish caught. More info: 360-793-7764.
Socialize: Mayfest 2012 is a food and music mixer you can get to by walking on the Mukilteo/Clinton ferry, then walking up the hill two blocks to the Clinton Community Hall. You can enjoy barbecue, and music and dancing with the Cranberry Bog Band and Rural Characters from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday at Clinton Community Hall at Highway 525 and Humphrey Road, Whidbey Island. Tickets at the door are $12; children are half price. Beer and wine will be sold separately by Diamond Knot Brewery.
