Moscoso unopposed in 1st District
Democratic 1st District State Rep. Luis Moscoso will run unopposed in the 1st legislative District, while fellow 1st District State Rep. Derek Stanford will have three challengers in the coming election.
Republican Sandy Guinn filed for Moscoso’s position early in the May 14-18 filing period, but withdrew and refiled for the Stanford position.
Democrat Greg Rankic of Kirkland, one of three challengers to Stanford, said Thursday that he didn’t know why the candidates are all running against Stanford rather than Moscoso.
“ I don't know why it worked out that way, he said. “I personally did not anticipate three opponents.”
The district includes Brier, Bothell, most of Mountlake Terrace, part of Kirkland, areas of unincorporated King County between Bothell and Kirkland and unincorporated areas of Snohomish County north and east of Bothell.
