Byron Scherf

Trial delay makes mockery of justice

I could not believe the judge moved Byron Scherf's trial to March of 2013. (Thursday article, "Murder trial delayed to 2013.") Why such a length time?! The state is spending so far $114,677.07 for "defense experts." That does not include lawyers' fees and what it costs for his incarceration.
This man admitted to killing corrections officer Jayme Biendl, so what is the problem? Why do you need more advice on his mental capabilities; he was in jail for repeated rapes, and he admitted the crime.
I wish the money spent on this murderer could at least have gone to Biendl's suffering family. Did she get treated fairly, as she tried to keep him from choking her to death? No help came to her, but unfortunately he gets all the time in the world, and has requested sweets or he won't talk.
Something is terribly wrong with this picture. Where is the justice here? By March 2013 the state will have most likely spent $500,000 on this creep. This to me is very upsetting, as is the slow hand of justice.
