Man convicted of murder in estranged wife's death

BELLINGHAM -- A Bellingham man has been convicted of first-degree murder for fatally shooting his estranged wife at her apartment.
The Bellingham Herald reported that Superior Court jurors delivered their verdict on Keayn Dunya on Wednesday after about a day and a half of deliberations.
Whatcom County Prosecutor Dave McEachran told jurors that a broken marriage and a child-custody dispute over the couple's 7-year-old son, Kai, provided the motive for the murder last July 3.
The prosecutor said Dunya drove about 90 miles from south Whidbey Island to Bellingham to kill Kriston Peterman-Dunya.
Sentencing is tentatively set for Monday.
