The evolution of contemporary music extends way beyond the piano keyboard.
Today's musicians use technology to create new sounds and new ways of creating music.
That's being celebrated tonight with "Musaic," a showcase of talent by students at Edmonds Community College.
Officials say that the concert includes live vocal sampling, piano processing, guitar looping, FX sampling and video game simulations of musical instruments battling it out.
Featured student musicians are Kasey Clarke, Josh Richins, Eric Hansen, Matt Sledgianowski, Calvin Hanson, Connor Favero, Arron Rudeen, Colin Berg and Michael Martz.
The show is scheduled for 7:30 tonight at the Black Box Theatre in Mukilteo Hall, Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood.
It's free, but a $7 donation is requested.
