CHEHALIS -- Lewis County sheriff's deputies found two dangerous dogs that were stolen last weekend from the Lewis County Animal Shelter in Chehalis.
Deputies heard them barking Wednesday behind the owner's home in Centralia. They seized the dogs and arrested a woman at the home -- the girlfriend of the dog's owner. She denied any involvement in taking the dogs and said "they showed up." She was jailed for investigation of possessing stolen property and rendering criminal assistance.
Deputies are still looking for the dogs' owner. He is suspected of cutting through a fence and prying open kennel doors.
The Rottweiler named Max and a pit bull named Whitney are back Thursday at the shelter where they'll be euthanized for killing eight alpacas on a neighbor's property.
