Mukilteo man suspected of storage unit burglaries
He was arrested for investigation of four counts of burglary and three counts of possessing stolen property. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on Wednesday.
One of the victims of a burglary south of Everett told sheriff's office deputies that more than 400 DVDs were missing from her unit.
The suspect, 26, is accused of pawning more than 200 of the woman's DVDs in Marysville on May 26, the day after he rented a unit at the storage business.
Further investigation found that he had rented units at four different businesses from April 20 to May 25 and each had reported break-ins during that time.
Many victims reported their losses to the sheriff's office. Others filed complaints with police in Lynnwood and Everett.
When police served a search warrant on one of the suspect's storage units, they found a stolen bike and much more.
"The unit was full of belongings whose owners are yet to be found," court papers said.
Shari Ireton, a sheriff's office spokesman, said the investigation is continuing and the suspect could be tied to other burglaries.
A storage company owns at least two of the businesses where the burglaries occurred. It examined electronic gate codes to determine who opened the gates at times the burglaries occurred, Ireton said.
"He had a huge pawn history and things started matching up from things that were stolen and things that he pawned," Ireton said.
