YAKIMA -- A man who witnessed a shooting in a Yakima parking lot pulled his own gun and intervened.
Witnesses say Andrew Schilperoort prevented another shot from being fired.

Police say the victim was shot twice Thursday afternoon in a dispute with another man over a cell phone.

Police identified the victim Friday as 25-year-old Jaime Partida and said he’s in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, likely facing multiple surgeries.

The gunman fled. Police say they have identified a person of interest.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reported that Schilperoort saw the shooting as he pulled into the grocery store parking lot. The wounded man was down calling for help when Schilperoort pulled his own pistol and screamed at the gunman to stop.
