Shaffer leads Merchants over Anchorage Bucs

ANCHORAGE -- Starting pitcher Alex Shaffer allowed just one run in six innings and Aaron Gates had two RBIs top help the Everett Merchants knock off the Anchorage Bucs 5-1.

The Merchants took the lead in the top of the first when Ryan Sells and Gates hit back-to-back triples.

Nate Mullins, Craig Monson and Keegan Acker each drove in a run and relievers Kevin Sheets and Jake Reppert combined to throw three scoreless innings to preserve the win for Shaffer.
