SnoCo Five-Oh: Snohomish school bus fender-bender
No one was injured in a fender-bender Wednesday between a car and a school bus in the Snohomish area.
The collision happened about 4 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 96 and Lowell Larimer Road, said trooper Keith Leary with the Washington State Patrol.
Here's what he was able to share:
The Snohomish School District bus was driving kids home at the time of the collision.
The Snohomish School District bus was driving five students (four boys and one girl ages ranging from 8-12, from the Snohomish area) home for the day from Seattle Hill Elementary.
The bus was attempting to make a right turn onto SR-96 from Lowell Larimer when it collided with a black Mercedes also attempting to make a right turn.
The 50-year-old school bus driver from Snohomish was not injured nor was the 56-year-old male driver of the Mercedes.
The bus is in the process of being inspected by the WSP Commercial Vehicle division before it returns to service. Both the car and bus had minor damage and were driven away from the scene.
The road was only blocked for a short time, no backup occurred.
The investigating is ongoing as far as who was at fault.
Note: SnoCo Five-Oh is a new feature we're trying on Sirens. We follow up on lot of calls about police and fire activity in the community. Most of the time, it's not much for a full-length news story. We'll share some of what we learn here.
