EVERETT -- A Whidbey Island man was killed Saturday in a one-vehicle crash on Broadway near I-5, the Everett Police Department said.

The crash occurred around 3 p.m. in Broadway's 4300 block, where a bridge takes the road over an I-5 onramp.

The 29-year-old from Freeland had been driving a Nissan pickup north when he failed to negotiate a right turn and hit a barrier on the bridge, Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell said. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he died.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
