Scouting Report
With a three-game winning streak intact, the Seattle Storm face the Washington Mystics today at KeyArena in the first game of a home-and-home two game set.
The Storm's difficult 1-7 start is in the rear-view mirror and things are starting to click offensively. In the Storm's most recent win, an 82-76 decision over the San Antonio Silver Stars on Friday, Seattle had six players score in double figures. It was by far the team's most balanced output of the season.
Guard Tanisha Wright led the way, scoring 20 points including several clutch free throws down the stretch to put the game away. It wasn't just Wright's point total that helped the Storm to victory. Her ability to drive into the lane not only created opportunities for herself, but also for her teammates.
The Storm look to keep that momentum going today against the Mystics, who at 2-7 are in last place in the Eastern Conference. The two teams appear to be going in different directions, but the Storm will have to guard against overlooking the Mystics as Seattle looks to climb back toward the .500 mark.
The Mystics have had less of a problem scoring the basketball this season than they have had stopping the opponent from doing the same. Washington opponents are shooting 45.7 percent and averaging 76.8 points per game. The Mystics will have to do a better job on the defensive end tonight if they hope to steal a game on the road.
Crystal Langhorne leads the way offensively for Washington and she poses a challenge for Seattle to slow down, averaging 15.6 points and seven rebounds per contest.
The Storm also get their first look this season at Ashley Robinson, who they traded to the Mystics in the offseason in exchange for Victoria Dunlap.
