STORM UPDATE: Seattle at Washington

Scouting Report

The Seattle Storm have won four straight to improve to 5-7 and are playing their best basketball so far this season. Their most recent victory, a 72-55 decision over Washington on Sunday at KeyArena was Seattle's most complete game up to this point. They shot a season-high 56.2 percent from the field, while holding the Mystics to a season-low 34.9 percent.

Today the Storm face the Mystics again, this time on the road. The two teams took the same plan back to Washington D.C. on Monday for tonight's game.

While the Mystics are struggling at 2-8 and the Storm appear to have found their stride. The road is still a place where Seattle has struggled so far this season. The Storm are 4-1 at KeyArena, but just 1-6 away from home, their only win coming against woeful Tulsa. In order to change their fortune, the Storm will have play with the same intensity that they played with on Sunday.

What seemed to work the best against Washington was applying ball pressure and forcing the Mystics into turnovers. Defense created much of the Storm's offense and led to easy scoring opportunities -- one of the many reasons the Storm shot such a high percentage.

The two things the Storm didn't do well on Sunday were offensive rebounding and stopping Crystal Langhorne. Seattle was outrebounded on the offensive glass 13-2 and Langhorne scored 21 points. Both of those things will have to improve today if the Storm expect to win on the road.

Offensively, Seattle just has to keep doing what it has been doing in the last several games, penetrate to the basket and be as balanced as possible.
