Bothell: Neighbors plan Night Out
Bothell police are encouraging neighbors to plan block parties for National Night Out on Aug. 7.
National Night Out is an annual community crime prevention event.
Bothell police are available to attend Night Out block parties in the city.

Marysville: Apply for tourism grant
Marysville is accepting applications for the city’s hotel and motel tax grant program for 2013.
Projects are funded on a reimbursement basis with awards granted to projects that enhance and promote tourism of the city.
The program is open to nonprofit agencies such as historical societies, art groups, chambers of commerce, museums and galleries, youth activity organizations and service clubs.
For a copy of the policy, application procedures and application forms, go to the city’s website at www.marysvillewa.gov. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. July 20.

Mountlake Terrace: Police commander retires
Mountlake Terrace officials recently honored retiring police commander Craig McCaul for his 31 years of service to the city.
Police Chief Greg Wilson led the recognition ceremony at the June 18 City Council meeting.
McCaul was hired at the police department in 1981. During his time there, he received multiple awards and medals for achievements in crimefighting.
McCaul was given a plaque that read, in part, “This organization is stronger because of your many efforts. Your wisdom, advice and friendship have strengthened us all.”
Artwork needed for Arts of Terrace
The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission is seeking paintings, prints, drawings, miniatures, calligraphy, photographs and other art for its 34th annual Arts of the Terrace show this fall.
More than $4,000 in prize money is available in the juried show, sponsored by the city’s Friends of the Arts.
Arts of the Terrace is scheduled for Sept. 29 through Oct. 7. The deadline for entries is Aug. 30. For more information go to www.cityofmlt.com and under “most requested services” click on Arts of the Terrace.
