Wildlife tour: The Camano Wildlife Habitat Projects’ free tour of wildlife gardens is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

To take the tour, pick up maps on the day of the event at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 E. Camano Drive, Camano Island.

The Wildlife Habitat Garden Tour demonstrates how a property can also be a haven for wildlife by providing all the necessities: food, water and shelter, in a natural setting or even with human intervention.

The six gardens, both large and small and from waterfront to forested, will show the particular challenges the various sites faced. There will also be information on native plants, composting and wildlife.

Camano Island is the 10th community in the nation to be certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a Community Wildlife Habitat.
